Nonprofit organization:
Robert "Bob" Bennett Youth Scuba Scholarship program

About the program:

This fun, engaging program is designed to teach youth responsibility and respect for themselves and the ocean, while also offering the opportunity to give back to our community through Project Aware and Dive Against Debris cleanup projects. With an emphasis on providing the scuba experience to at-risk youth, low-income families, and youth that have a history of trauma, the program offers a vast array of benefits. Some benefits that youth will experience from diving include increased confidence and self-esteem, increased emotional well-being, stress relief, improves concentration capacity, connection with nature, builds long-lasting friendships, offers a sense of freedom, builds leadership skills, and so much more.

Our mission is to provide youth with leadership and mentoring skills, experiential education, and activism and charity opportunities.

Through this scholarship program youth will become certified Open Water divers with a specialty in Project Aware and will participate in local beach and underwater cleanup projects. Sponsorships and donations will go toward covering the full cost of the program to include Open Water Certification, Project Aware Specialist Course, Mask, Fins, and Snorkel, Dive Site Entry Fees, PADI Instructor and Divemaster Fees.

Additionally, Scuba diving has been proven to offer therapeutic benefits, giving youth the opportunity to experience the calming nature of Scuba.
